Archiving human rights in Libya: One year of SHIRA

Lawyers for Justice in Libya (LFJL) has published its first monitoring report and interactive map one year after launching its Human Rights Archive project (the Archive Project). The report provides an overview of human rights violations documented in the Archive which date from February 2011 to October 2017 and span the coast from Ras Jdir to Derna. LFJL's Human Rights Photography Exhibition

In an effort to bring greater attention to the human rights challenges experienced in Libya, LFJL organised the Human Rights Photography Exhibition. The exhibition showcases the work of talented Libyan photographers who have captured images of fundamental human rights presently threatened in Libya.

Strengthening cooperation and human rights archiving in Libya

Last week, Lawyers for Justice in Libya (LFJL) concluded a roundtable meeting following the launch of its Human Rights Archive in December 2016. The meeting brought together representatives of Libyan civil society and international organisations to develop a shared understanding of archiving and its importance for preserving the truth, accountability and transitional justice in Libya.
