Our call for accountability

On Human Rights Day, we continue to support the people’s call for accountability and justice for the communities affected by the Libya floods.

We call for:

• Holding individuals knowledgeable or responsible for the neglected dams, and all authorities obstructed relief efforts and failed to mitigate the damage in the flood’s aftermath accountable.
• The provision of holistic reparations, including financial compensation and guarantees of non-recurrence, to the victims of the floods and affected communities.
• An end to the civil society crackdown that puts journalists, activists and front-liner defenders at daily risk.
• Urgent efforts to identify migrant and refugees affected by the floods and critical protection going forward for their safety and well-being.
