Guide for Survivors to Understand the ICC’s Proceedings – and Their Rights Before the Court
For many survivors and affected communities, the ICC can feel distant and difficult to access. Proceedings take place far from Libya, are often conducted in unfamiliar legal language, and can be challenging to navigate without clear information and support.
This guide was developed to help bridge that gap. Produced by Redress and Lawyers for Justice in Libya (LFJL) as part of the Global Initiative Against Impunity, it provides practical information for survivors, victims, and affected communities seeking to better understand the ICC’s proceedings and their rights before the Court.
The guide explains key aspects of the ICC process in clear and accessible language, including how victims can participate in proceedings, what rights they hold before the Court, and what support may be available throughout the process.
By making this information available in both English and Arabic, we hope to contribute to greater awareness, accessibility, and meaningful engagement with international justice processes for those affected by serious human rights violations and international crimes in Libya.
