Invite: Public premiere of ‘Escaping Libya’s Detention Industry’

April 14, 2025

NEW INVESTIGATION LAUNCH AND SCREENING

Thursday 1 May, doors open at 6.30pm

Genesis Cinema, London,

Lawyers for Justice in Libya (LFJL) invites you to the first public screening of their new investigation, in partnership with Forensis: ‘Escaping Libya’s Detention Industry’.

This joint investigation reveals an industry of detention, extortion, release, and re-capture, to which thousands of vulnerable migrants and refugees are subjected in detention centres across Libya, and which is sustained by EU support.

Bringing together testimonies, satellite image analysis, and 3D reconstruction, the film traces the evolution of Libya’s detention industry, and its ongoing relationship with externalised EU border controls, through the accounts of those who have survived it.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A.

Get tickets here.

*Please note that filming/photography will be taking place on-site for this event for promotional and archival purposes. If you would prefer not to appear in any photographs or event footage, please let LFJL know on your arrival.

** If you are unable to afford a ticket but would still like to attend, please feel free to email LJFL at info@libyanjustice.org, and we will be happy to assist you.
